After the rain shortened the first game of the season opening doubleheader (see #481), conditions were better on the West Coast as the Giants and Dodgers got to business. It was a tight game at strechtime, the Dodgers up 1-0 thanks to a two-out rally in the fourth. But Los Angeles sent eleven men to the plate and scored five times to take command, then tacked on two more in the eighth. Kiki Hernandez was the offensive star, going 4-5 with a homer, two runs, and five RBI, including the first and last of the game.
